Social Marketing - Pepsi Refresh Campaign

Pepsi's campaign for 2010 is a completely revolutionary and welcomed way of advertising in social media, that has been taking over the social media market by storm since it's release in June, 2010. Pepsi Co. had announced this year that it would not be having a Super Bowl ad this year, and instead would launch a $20 million dollar social media campaign, in which anyone could submit their idea to 'refresh' the world.

The project has been promoted on television, radio, as well as internet advertising, and youtube videos, but what really made this launch successful was social media, and its infinite amount of potential for word-of-mouth. The campaign actually hit it off in late 2009, with this commercial in order to introduce the idea before the contest began in 2010.

Pepsi is awarding the top ideas of the month, that's right the month, grants ranging from $5,000 - $250,000 to get them off the ground, and 'refresh' the world as they say.

Consumers, companies, social and environmental activists a like have shown their interest, support, and ideas by the millions. As of Sept 23, 2010 the Pepsi Refresh Project Page on Facebook has 1,237,570 people, in just less then 4 months, that is more then 10,700 people a day 'like'ing their page on Facebook.

But that number is dwarfed compared to the amounts of comments, votes, recommendations, Facebook posts, Twitters, and all other user interactions done in the name of the Pepsi Refresh Project.

If you are a socially, or, environmentally conscious person I suggest you support what ever passion you have, and Submit Your Idea to the Pepsi Refresh Project.

Here are some tips once you have submitted your idea. PROMOTE IT!

Start a Facebook, start a Twitter, start any and every kinds of social media you use, just for your idea, then get all of you hundreds of friends to join, and tell them to invite all of their hundreds of friends. Comment on blogs that are related, maybe that persons readers want the same change as you do, you never know right?

There are a lot of things we can say are wrong in this world, and we can all talk about it within our small social circles, but now you can't say "WHERE DO I START?" you start here(Pepsi Refresh Application), then here(Your Facebook), then go here(Twitter), then here(Idea Facebook Page), and then here(Forums), and just wait and see how you can refresh the world.

Common Pepsi wants you to use their money to do good, so get out there and get some support.
